Whatever is special to you about October, let us remember that our Lord is behind it all. Of course, we worship the Creator and not creation, but that also means He created it for our enjoyment.

Other than being a tiny bit warm and typically humid, the weather was perfect, the food was amazing and the beach was gorgeous. Many of us had the opportunity to ride bikes on the fine hard white sand in the morning. I even found some pink branch-like coral just lying on the beach! The ocean did have a small drawback, since one of us got stung by a jellyfish while swimming, but little damage was done!

We have been fortunate in southwest Montana, so far. Our main concern this time of year is dry lightning causing forest fires. So, our blue skies and nice temperatures could change in a New York second! My prayers go out to all of you, and your loved ones, who are struggling.

Happy summer to you all. I hope it is an enjoyable season for you! At the same time, I continue to pray for those in areas that have been affected by flooding and fire smoke from our northern neighbors. Summer can be a very high energy time as rest eludes us, giving way to vacations, backyard barbeques, travel, family reunions, anticipation of a young child’s first day of school and escorting an older teen to college dorm life. The future of change is in the air.

I am writing this letter to you with great joy to advise you that we have nearly met our goals to fund our precious Debbie McAlear’s departure for retirement and overlapping replacement. To be good stewards of your funding, we, the commission, met at the CMDA National Convention last month to review the books and plans going forward.

I exited a very sobering Good Friday service at our church in silence, but I was not prepared for what the next day would bring. As I write you this letter, I am pondering God’s wisdom in allowing me to contract COVID, trapping me in bed on Silent Saturday.

By now you’ve all received our appeals email and letter letting you know that we are in a season of change with our director, Debbie McAlear. Debbie is retiring at the end of this year, and we need to finance her replacement who will need to overlap Debbie for six months of training.

Hello, fellow WPDCers! I hope you are enjoying all that February can bring: groundhogs, valentines, snow for skiing in the north and cool skies for relaxation in the south. But most importantly, I hope you recognized Friday, February 3 as National Women Physician Day. My friend Tiffany, who is an accomplished pediatric allergist, mentioned this to a group of us that morning. This is what I learned.

For those of you familiar with the Proverbs 31 Ministry, this will be redundant, but I could not resist sending it on this special day. I want to give credit to the author, Grace Valentine, but I also want to add my own title: “The 12 Tips of New Year.”

Good day to all of the women in WPDC! My name is Connie Hahn, and I am a family medicine physician in Bozeman, Montana. It is my privilege to serve you as chair of this commission and ministry of CMDA for the next two years. It is my prayer you will all be enriched spiritually and professionally, as well as through new and seasoned relationships by your participation in WPDC.
